Welcome to the web site of Raymond Hemingray. This site covers the

Peterborough Diocesan Registry

Each Anglican Diocese in England has two Legal Officers, the
Chancellor and the Registrar. Raymond Hemingray has been the
Registrar of the Diocese of Peterborough and the Bishop’s Legal
Secretary since 1974. The main areas of his work include the giving of
legal advice to the Bishops and other clergy, to church officers and to
the general public; the administration of the Faculty jurisdiction
(dealing with applications for Faculties to authorise changes to
churches and burial grounds); preparation of documents for clergy
and lay appointments; consecration of churches, churchyards and
cemeteries; the issue of marriage licences; and the maintenance of
diocesan records and registers. Further information about the work
of the Registry can be found at its website:

Software Development

Raymond Hemingray has been developing database software since
1989. His first venture was a collaboration with Tom Blower (a former
Registrar of the Diocese of Portsmouth) in the design of a Diocesan
Registry Database. Between 1990 and 2000, Ray installed his
Coroners Records Database software in over 70 Coroners’
jurisdictions throughout England and Wales. He is currently
concentrating on web site development.
